Employee Spotlight: Halen Higgins

Meet Halen Higgins, the newest addition to the Family Features team. We're excited to have him on board in his new role as Production Specialist. Halen will focus on video production and editing. Learn more about Halen's background and interests below:

1. Can you tell me a little about your background? Where were you born?
I was born in Alva, Oklahoma. I moved to Kansas in 2007 and now live in Lawrence. Prior to coming to Family Features, I did video production for the City of Topeka's local government.

2. Where did you go to college and what was your major?
I went to the University of Kansas and studied Film and Media Production.

3. Do you have any previous or relevant experience in this industry?
While much of the industry is completely new to me, I have years of experience shooting, editing and producing video.

4. What about your job interests you the most and what do you think will be challenging?
I am most interested in producing lifestyle and home & garden content for eLivingToday.com. The most challenging part will probably be learning the file prep process.

5. How would you describe the work environment at Family Features?
Everyone here has been super helpful and made me feel at home very quickly!

6. When you’re not working, what do you enjoy doing in your free time? Any hobbies?
Most of the time I am at home watching TV with my wife, but we also enjoy going to bars, coffee shops and the record store in Lawrence.

7. Do you have any pets?
We have one cat at home, Roxie.

8. Do you have any big upcoming plans or personal goals?
My wife and I are hoping to get a Samoyed puppy by the end of the year!
